Welcome to Torah of Recovery
A modality for supporting addicts in recovery. Jewish? Great. Not Jewish? Great. Addicted to a substance,? Great. Not addicted to a substance, but worried about addictive behaviors or qualities in your life? Great. All are welcome. The only thing we all have in common is a desire to harvest wisdom from Jewish tradition in search of effective recovery and learning to tell a new story about who we are. Yes, we will read Torah, the first five books of the Bible. We know these stories, but haven't usually looked at them in this way. Let's go.

The stories are us, the insights are amazing, and all the feelings are there. How do you learn to tell a new story? By learning and telling these, and yours, together." - Sue Reinhold
Tell a New Story.
Torah of Recovery is a Jewish modality in recovery from addiction. Our sessions are grounded in Torah, the first five books of the Bible. Either through specific story study or the weekly Torah portion, we tackle meaningful questions related to addiction, recovery, purpose and crisis and healing of the spirit. Who am I? How do I get out from the slavery of my addiction? What do I take with me? If I get to a better place, who will I be when I am there? What will it feel like? What is the new story I tell about myself and the world around me? Led by Sue Reinhold, we unabashedly and enthusiastically plunge into the Jewish wisdom tradition for insight into our everyday lives. Open to all.

Meaningful |
Some of the oldest stories we have - those from the Torah - put us into familiar space for reflection, insight, and finding the connections between the old texts and who we are, today.
|
Allow associations to multiply. Listen to the stories and to each other. Connect over shared struggle. Understand that we are all on this path uniquely, and that many have walked it before.
|
We are storytelling creatures; it is what distinguishes us, for better and for worse, in the world. As we change our stories, we change our lives. Torah? Yes, Torah, and the community, and you.

Weekly Torah Portion
Drop in, come every week, just make sure to come as you are. Sue will lead a lively study of the piece of Torah that Jews around the world are reading this week. They're all her favorite - and could be yours too. Learn what's up, apply your own situation to these engaging, loopy, meaningful stories, and listen to some serious wisdom so that you can create some of your own.
